Book recommendations:

1. “A Tale of Love and Darkness” by Amos Oz is one of the best books I’ve read in the last couple of years. Oz chronicles his childhood in Jerusalem at the end of the British Mandate for Palestine and the early years of the State of Israel, building one of the funniest, most tragic and most touching stories you’ll ever come across in books and in real life;

2. “Istanbul: The Imperial City” by John Freely.

The city of dreams, majesty, seven hills, “a hundred names” and huge contradictions, Istanbul is the only city in the world that lies on two continents, Asia and Europe, between East and West, Islam and secularism, ancient and modern (more here, here, here and here).

It’s pure magic, baby!
